The screen shows the name of its setup Wi-Fi. Join it from your phone: the setup page opens on its own.
Pick your 2.4 GHz network, type its password and choose a password for the box. Save and restart.
Your values are on the screen and on your phone. About a minute, start to finish.

Any phone charger near the equipment, or a USB port. The box uses under 0.5 W.
Your usual home Wi-Fi: almost every router broadcasts 2.4 GHz. Internet is not even required at home.
For the one-minute setup through the box’s own Wi-Fi. No app, any browser.
No tools, no PC, no driver, no setting to change on the inverter. Your box arrives prepared for your Growatt model.
The box’s screen tells you where it stands. Find your case below.
The USB-C charger or cable is the usual suspect: try another one, or a computer’s USB port. The box needs very little, under 0.5 W.
The box is waiting for your home network. Join the MoniWatt-Setup-… Wi-Fi it shows; if the page does not open, type http://192.168.4.1 in the browser.
The box only sees 2.4 GHz networks. Most routers broadcast both: pick the 2.4 GHz one, or type its name in “Or type its name”.
Check that the cable is in the RS485 port of the inverter, not in the battery (BMS) or meter port. Unplug and plug it back firmly.
Some phones do not resolve .local names. Type the address shown at the bottom of the screen instead, for example http://192.168.1.57.
Write to [email protected] with a photo of the screen and of the port: a person answers.
Growatt hybrids have several communication connections: the USB port of the Shine stick, the meter link, the battery link (BMS) and the RS485 link for monitoring. Leave the meter and the battery alone. Depending on the model, the monitoring link is an RJ45 socket or two terminals on the communication board. Send us a photo of the port area and the model label with your order; the cable we supply matches your inverter.
The inverter answers on a Modbus address, 1 unless someone changed it. With several inverters, each has its own address; check them in the inverter settings.
Connect the supplied cable to the RS485 link and to the box, then power the box with USB-C.
Switch nothing off and open nothing on the power side of the inverter. This is a low-voltage communication link only.
Join the box’s setup Wi-Fi from your phone, choose your home network and set your dashboard password.
Open http://moniwatt.local. Battery SOC, PV power and grid power should match the inverter display within a few watts.
Growatt Monitor tells Home Assistant how much the panels produce, in real time. Four simple rules, and the washing machine, the water heater and the car use your sun instead of the grid. Watch a day:
Your solar production
Your consumption

Simulation of a sunny day for a house with 5 kWp of panels, a 10 kWh battery, a car that needs 10 kWh and a water heater. The energy delivered to each appliance is the same in both scenarios; only the timing changes. Your figures depend on your system, your tariff and the weather.
